A recent model, Steinway-designed baby grand player piano

Essex is Steinway’s entry-level brand, built by Pearl River. The core elements of this design (a flexible soundboard, lower string tension, and softer hammers) impart a warmth to the tone that is lacking in many otherwise similar Asian pianos.  Recent production from Pearl River is very high quality, and we’re delighted to be able to offer this piano for sale.

This piano has very little wear. With a clear, singing tone and a medium-light action, it is very expressive and fun to play.  The treble in particular is outstanding. The finish is in good condition.

Our in-house servicing included:

• Deep cleaned
• Case polished
• Hammers voiced
• Action regulated
• Key pins and capstans lubricated; key bushings replaced
• PianoDisc digital player piano system updated with a new power supply and all new solenoids

You can hear this piano below. Quality microphones were used to make the recording, and the audio is minimally processed so that you can get a good sense of the actual sound of the piano. Smartphone and laptop speakers won’t do it justice. Please use quality headphones!

This piano is suitable for students of all levels, as well as institutional uses such as choir rooms. (Larger pianos would be preferred for performance spaces.) As a player piano, it’s also a great option for those that love piano music and appreciate live performance but don’t play the piano themselves.
